Colombia Knockout Uruguay, To Face Argentina In 2024 Copa America Final

Colombia stunned Uruguay out of the 2024 Copa America despite playing the entire second half with a man down.

From the start of the 2024 Copa America, Uruguay were seen as favourites to win the tournament and they maintained that status until in the semi-finals against Colombia on July 10.

During the game at the Bank of America Stadium in North Carolina, the United States, Jefferson Lerma scored the match opener in the 39th minute.

Larma, a Crystal Palace midfielder, scored the goal through a header from James Rodriguez’s corner kick.

In the additional minutes of the first half, Colombia suffered what was expected to be a huge setback when Daniel Munoz was shown a red card after receiving a second yellow card for elbowing Manuel Ugarte.

Despite going into the break with a man down, they were able to hold on to the slim lead throughout the game.

Uruguay’s veteran striker, Luis Suarez, would have gotten the equalizer for his country if not for the woodwork.

Thanks to the 1-0 win over Uruguay, Colombia will face Argentina in the final of the competition at 1 a.m. (WAT) on Monday, July 15.

As for Uruguay, they have a chance of going home with a medal as they will face Canada in the third-place match at 1 a.m. on Sunday, July 14.
