Ed Helms was born on January 24, 1974, to John A. Helms (a Navy veteran and insurance executive), who was also a lawyer, and Pamela Ann (an administrator at a school).
Susan Carol Helms, his older sister, and John Paxton Helms, his younger brother, are both in his immediate family.
