EFCC Uncovers N65.5 Million During Raid on INEC Office

The EFCC raided INEC’s Zamfara office following a petition by one of the INEC ad-hoc staff. Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have uncovered about N65.5 million during a raid on the Zamfara office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The recovered funds stacked in two fire proof safes, were recovered by the EFCC officials of Sokoto zonal office during a search conducted in offices of the HOD Accounts and Cashier of the INEC, Zamfara State.

In a statement made available to the public, the anti-graft agency noted that the recovered funds, N65,548,000 in total, comprises 81 bundle of N1000 notes, 97 bundles of N500 notes and 96 pieces of N500 notes.

The money, according to the EFCC, is suspected to be 40% illegally deducted on funds released to the INEC office in Zamfara, to cater for the rent of canopies, tables and chairs, as well as funds for Registration Area Center (RAC) and movement of men and materials to polling units, by the HOD Accounts & Cashier.

The commission said the suspects would be arraigned in court as soon as investigation is completed.

  2. This is what happen in my country imaging the kind of wickedness just for personal use that is why they deduct such amount aside and suffer many people as a result of their selfishness.

  3. Money made to cater for all these items was embezzled by evil people we have in this country. The corp members suffered, some lost their lives during voting yet their money was not paid to them. They should punish those criminals well.

  4. Those criminals should be brought to book. My pain is when they will be released we common citizens will not hear about it. But commoners will commit lesser crime than this and they will be killed. God please help us in this Country.

INEC aff turn to CBN where you can see any amount of money you want, abeg comma borrow Nigeria government that money nah..no one is even caring about how it get to the office. it’s now a normal thing to cut our national cake selfishly and with big knife.. I call this wickedness and the officers there deserve to be sacked and prosecuted also punished accordingly

  8. I would have say a very good job but that will be the end if the issue .no one will hear again about the matter.I don’t like hearing about efcc recover money because is beginning we will know nobody the end of it

    • We need to all encourage our civil workers by words to keep striving, the EFCC have done a great job for this and i encourage them to fight it out till the last, this alone will make us a healthy country

  10. Nice work from the EFCC they should keep it up. Money like this should be used to take care of the masses and not oneself. Our country can only grow if we have loyal and committed leaders.
